We all know that art is not truth. Art is a lie that makes us to realize the truth.

Notes from Village Artists Meeting February 13, 2010

It was decided to prepare a program of workshops etc for the 1st Semester – March to end of July.

Workshops where possible will be held on the 2nd Saturday of the month. We will be using a public venue for the workshops – the first one on March 13 will be held at Tullera Hall. We still need to agree on a permanent venue for future workshops after this one which has good light, facilities and a central location.

It was agreed that our tutors would be paid $100 for a 3 or 4 hour workshop and more for full day or weekend workshops, therefore, members will be asked to contribute a minimum of $20 per workshop or more if numbers are low. NON members will be asked to contribute $30 for tuition.

On our informal days, a contribution of between $5 and $10 is requested as we need to build up funds to purchase equipment and materials. On these days we will be meeting at a private home as we have been doing or in winter, working plein air.

Ros Little has agreed to be our secretary/treasurer – Thank you so much Ros!

We are also planning “excursions” to different galleries to see special exhibitions – eg Brisbane or Tweed and for these we will be hiring a minibus.

There will be an exhibition for friends, family and neighbours etc of the works we have completed at the end of the year – Possibly end of November.

We also encourage members to enter the Bentley Art Prize in July and also the Lismore Portrait Prize in March.

There will be a membership drive and we will be contributing publicity articles to the Dunoon Gazette and Echo etc. in the near future.

There was also a suggestion that we produce an annual calendar displaying our work and proceeds should go to a local charity.
